Welcome to Maths For KS3

Maths For KS3 is an online one to one maths tutoring service specialising in Key Stage 3 maths.
I believe that the foundation of your child’s maths education matters. This is why it is important to unlock their mathematical potential early. The first stages of your child’s secondary school education is important.
Confidence in maths starts early, ever so often pupils show very low self-esteem in their mathematical abilities due to lack of confidence. Breaking this barrier is my mission.
Key Stage 3 years’ matter!
It is of upmost importance to get it right early! Leaving it till Key Stage 4 might be too late!

Miss Ola has helped me develop my maths skills and grow confident in tackling harder problems. I am now hoping to study maths in my A-levels, which I can only credit to Miss Ola helping me at a young age.

During my one to one tuition with a student whom I was teaching Algebraic Fractions; a grade 7 topic I realised how PATIENCE she must be!
.
.
We looked at simplifying, adding, subtracting, dividing and solving algebraic fractions (swipe to see some of the work)
.
.
There is alot of previous learning that she has to remember to be able to do this smoothly i.e. how to factorise with no x coefficient and with x coefficient etc...
.
.
She was calm and persevered and attempted the questions very maturely. After the lesson I was just thinking she must have been really patient to do an hour of this!
.
.
Maths teaches us a lot of life skills and qualities i.e. patience, perseverance, listening skills, logical thinking etc
.
.
It's OK to struggle with it but do not give up 💜 @ Oldham, United Kingdom

Key Stage 3 (KS3) is the ages between 11 to 14 (Year 7 to Year 9) and the mathematical concepts/foundations are taught. Everything studied in these years are in preparation for the GCSE or iGCSE exams.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is it possible to skip the KS3 introductory topics and skip right into GCSE studies. Yes, you can but you would need to teach the particular topic from scratch e.g. If you need to learn algebraic fractions you would need to start the lesson by first learning about how to do basic fractions manipulations like adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing (all KS3 topics). Then you would need some basic algebra skills (again KS3).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The foundation stages matter so as to make the learning quicker/easier. On the other hand the key concepts are also looked at again in the GCSE years to refresh the students mind 💜⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ps⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Live online courses coming up soon that would integrate both KS3 and GCSE.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
